Service Learning
Service-learning is a method through which citizenship, academic subjects, skills, and values are taught. It involves active learning, drawing lessons from the experience of performing service work.
Santa Ynez 4-H is strongly focused on citizenship and community service. Every one of our projects attempts to give its members practice in the service learning cornerstone of the 4-H pledge (i.e., community service).
For example, during the 2006-2007 program year, the Dairy Goat project raised hundreds of dollars via their annual bake sale for Heifer International.
Santa Ynez 4-H is proud to be about head, heart, hands, and health — and service learning, too!
